CBT Therapists Licensed in Florida

This page is for people in Florida looking for therapists who use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Use it to compare practitioners’ specialties, experience with specific issues, communication style, and whether they work with adults, teens, couples, or families. Note that a Florida licence covers the whole state, so the therapist’s ability to work with you does not depend on where you are in Florida. Look for clear statements about CBT use, any added approaches they combine with CBT, and the populations and concerns they commonly treat to find a good fit.

About cbt therapy in Florida

Everyone listed on this page holds a licence to practise in Florida and works online. That matters more than it sounds: a licence is issued by the state, not by a city, so a therapist is available to anyone in Florida regardless of how far away they are. Someone outside a major metro can work with a therapist whose books would otherwise be out of reach.

2,548 therapists match this page, all of whom name cbt among the areas they work with. Fifteen are shown above. The list changes between pages, so it is worth looking at more than one if none of these feels like a fit.

What to compare

  • Credential. LMHC, LCSW and LMFT are different training routes to licensed practice in Florida, all overseen by the Florida Department of Health's Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. None outranks the others; they shape emphasis rather than quality.
  • Years in practice. Shown for every therapist here. More experience is not automatically better, but it is a fair proxy for how much of a given problem someone has seen.
  • What else they work with. A therapist whose other focus areas overlap with your situation is usually a better starting point than one whose listed areas stop at the single thing you searched for.
  • Approach. CBT, psychodynamic, solution-focused and the rest describe how sessions tend to run. If you have tried therapy before and it did not suit you, changing approach is often more useful than changing therapist.
  • Language. Shown where a therapist offers sessions in more than English.

How online sessions work

Sessions run by video or by messaging, arranged through our partner platform rather than booked directly with the therapist. There is no travel and no waiting room, which for most people is the difference between starting and not starting. Pricing is set by the platform and shown before you commit.

Common questions

What should I look for when a therapist lists CBT among their approaches?

Check whether the therapist describes how they use CBT, such as whether they focus on skill-building, thought records, exposure, or behavioral experiments. Look for mentions of specific issues they treat with CBT, like anxiety, OCD, depression, or trauma. Also compare whether they integrate CBT with other approaches and which client populations they commonly see.

Can I work with a Florida-licensed CBT therapist if I live anywhere in the state?

Yes. A Florida licence covers the whole state, so therapists who are licensed in Florida can accept clients anywhere in Florida for online care. You do not need to be in the same city as the therapist. Confirm any scheduling preferences or session formats directly with the clinician before starting.

How do I know if CBT is a good approach for my problem?

Consider whether your concerns involve patterns of thinking, unhelpful behaviors, or symptoms like panic, persistent low mood, or avoidance. CBT is often used for those issues and focuses on practical skills and short- to medium-term strategies. Read therapists’ descriptions to see if they list your concern, and ask about typical session structure and goals when you contact them.
